Pumpkin Craft:
Step by Step 🎨

Step 1

Choose a sheet of coloured card. It doesn’t have to be the classic orange – yellow or green work too. Draw a pumpkin shape about 16 cm x 11 cm and carefully cut it out.
Tip:
Use our pumpkin craft template (available at the end of this guide) or draw the pumpkin freehand.

Step 2

Glue a thicker cord along the pumpkin’s outline using Pritt Multipurpose Glue. Alternatively, braid three thin cords to make a frame.

Step 3

Cut plenty of paper strips from cardstock, each measuring 1 cm x 30 cm. You can either use a paper trimmer or, alternatively, a ruler, craft knife, and cutting mat.

A person rolls a paper strip with a quilling tool, with an unfinished paper pumpkin and craft materials on the table.

Step 4

Take a paper strip and roll it with the quilling tool to make a small coil. Repeat until you have enough coils to cover the pumpkin surface.

Did you know?

Quilling is an old form of art where thin paper strips are rolled into spirals or coils and glued decoratively. A quilling tool makes rolling easy, especially for many coils. Ideal for cards, 3D objects, and window art.

Step 5

Let the coils loosen slightly, add a bit of glue to the end of each strip, and press it down to secure. Pritt Glue Stick works best.

A person presses a rolled paper strip together in their hands, with an unfinished paper pumpkin and craft supplies on the table.
A person presses a paper coil onto orange pumpkin-shaped cardstock, with several coils already glued and craft supplies on the table.

Step 6

Glue all coils inside the cord frame using Pritt Multipurpose Glue. Apply a small amount of glue to the flat side of each coil and press gently onto the pumpkin.

Step 7

Create funny eyes and a mouth for your pumpkin and a stem from coloured paper. Use a circle template for round eyes or freehand.

Step 8

Glue the paper stem to the bottom back of your pumpkin using Pritt all-purpose glue.
