Birthday Card Craft:
step-by-step instructions 🎨

Step 1

Cut a strip about 1.5 inches wide along the long side of the writing paper and set it aside – you’ll need it later.

Step 2

The remaining wide strip will become your rainbow. Using a paintbrush, start with a stripe in your favourite colour across the centre of the strip. Add the other rainbow colours symmetrically on either side. Allow the paint to dry.

Step 3

Now grab your card stock for the base of the card. Use a pencil and ruler to mark out a strip measuring 4 by 12 inches and cut it out. Fold it in half to make a card measuring 4 by 6 inches.
Tip:
The card will fold more easily if you lightly score it along the folding line with the edge of your scissors and ruler.

Step 4

Back to the rainbow: once it’s dry, fold the painted strip accordion-style along the short edge – fold forward, then backward, repeating until you have a neat concertina.

Did you know?

Pritt can be colourful too! Did you know their classic Pritt Glue Stick comes in fun colours like blue, green, orange, and purple?

Step 5

Fold the rainbow paper in half and apply glue to the bottom edge using the Pritt Glue Stick. Now stick the rainbow paper into the crease of your card, positioning it evenly and ensuring the painted side faces the card base.

Step 6

Fold the rainbow paper upwards so it stands up from the card. To secure it, glue the inner fold together using the Pritt Glue Stick. When the card is opened, the rainbow will pop up beautifully!

Step 7

Remember that narrow white strip from Step 1? Draw some small cloud shapes with your pencil and cut them out.

Step 8

Stick the clouds onto your card using the Pritt Glue Stick.

Step 9

And you're done – your homemade birthday card is complete! Now it just needs your personal touch. Write your birthday wishes right into the clouds.
