How To Craft
With Autumn Leaves 🍂

Step 1

Cut two strips from the A3 photo cardboard. One should be 47 cm long and 2 cm wide – this will be the top edge. The second is 47 cm long and 8 cm wide, forming the base.

Step 2

Fold the wide strip in half lengthwise. The best way to do this is to carefully score the fold line beforehand with a craft knife or scissors. Use a ruler to help you and make sure you only score the surface so that you don't accidentally cut through the paper.

Step 3

Now cut small triangles every 7 to 10 cm along one long side of the wide strip. Cut up to the fold in each case. The incisions will ensure that the lantern can stand securely later.

Step 4

Cut a rectangle out of white tracing paper. It should be about 17 cm high and 46 cm wide.
Tip:
Don't have any white tracing paper? No problem: greaseproof paper works just as well.

Did you know?

Although we recommend this lantern project for children aged seven and above, younger children can still get involved in fall leaf crafts – for example, by collecting, sorting, or selecting the most beautiful autumn leaves. With the Pritt Glue Stick and Pritt Multipurpose Glue, crafting becomes child's play: they are easy to use, washable and consist of 97 % natural ingredients.

Step 5

Glue the narrow strip of cardboard onto one long side of the transparent paper rectangle. Glue the wide strip onto the other long side so that the fold is flush with the edge. The cut-out points should face away from the transparent paper. Use your Pritt Glue Stick and make sure you work neatly. Allow everything to dry thoroughly before continuing.

Step 6

Place real leaves on a piece of construction paper and trace their outlines with a pencil. Cut out the leaf shapes; they will serve as templates.

Step 7

Now transfer the templates onto coloured tracing paper. Then carefully cut out the paper sheets – they will decorate your lantern later.

Step 8

Now it's time to decorate your lantern. Stick both the transparent paper sheets and the dried autumn leaves onto the white transparent paper. Arrange the leaves however you like and leave everything to dry thoroughly before continuing.
Tip:
For the paper leaves, it is best to use the Pritt glue stick. Crafting with leaves works particularly well with Pritt Multipurpose Glue.

Step 9

Apply a strip of glue to one narrow end of your future lantern. You can also use the Pritt Glue Stick for this.

Step 10

Roll the tracing paper into a cylinder and press both ends firmly together.

Step 11

Fold the cut triangles at the bottom edge of your homemade lantern evenly inwards so that it will stand stably later. Done!
