Crafts using chestnuts: here's how 🌰

Step 1

Print out our template for the tiny feet (you'll find it at the end of these instructions). Cut them out and trace the feet for your chestnut monster onto coloured construction paper. Alternatively, you can draw the feet freehand. Simple circles or squares also work wonderfully as monster feet.

Step 2

Let's continue with your fun chestnut arts and crafts project: carefully cut out the pre-drawn shapes.

Step 3

Now it's time to stack up the chestnuts: Apply a generous amount of Pritt Multipurpose Glue to the cut-out feet. Then press a chestnut firmly onto the glue – this will be your monster's body. Allow the glue to dry briefly before continuing with your Chestnut Craft.

Did you know?

Pritt Multipurpose Glue is ideal for crafting. It reliably sticks paper, card, fabric, wood, and many other materials, is solvent free and washable.

Step 4

Now apply a generous amount of glue to the top of the chestnut and place a second one on top – this will form the head. It is best to use a smaller chestnut for this, as it will make your monster more stable. Now everything needs to dry thoroughly. You should wait at least three hours before continuing with the craft project; ideally, leave it overnight.

Step 5

Once dry, decorate your chestnut monster. First, stick the googly eyes onto the head. Use a little glue to help them stick better, if necessary. Two different-sized eyes will give your chestnut monster a particularly funny expression.

Step 6

Finally, decorate the monster with felt balls and chenille wire. This will create hair, arms, scarves or colourful antennae. Each chestnut monster will be unique.
Tip:
Looking for more horse Chestnut Craft ideas? Instead of monsters, you can also make animals or other figures out of chestnuts: for example, little men, hedgehogs, caterpillars, or spiders. In no time at all, a few chestnuts can turn into a colourful collection.
