Crafting Hedgehog:
Step by Step 🎨

Step 1

Start by printing the hedgehog craft template (you’ll find it at the end). Cut out the hedgehog body – once with and once without spines. Use a pencil to trace the plain body twice onto light brown cardboard and the spiky one twice onto brown cardboard.
Tip:
Trace the template onto thicker cardboard first to create sturdier stencils.

Step 2

Snip, snip, snip! Cut out all four body shapes from your template. You should now have two light brown bodies without spines and two darker brown ones with spines.

Step 3

Time to build your hedgehog’s body! Apply Pritt Glue Stick along the top edge of one light brown body – this will be the hedgehog’s back.

Step 4

Stick the glued edge of the body onto the matching spiky shape. Repeat this with the second set. Now you have a front and a back, both with spines!

Step 5

Let’s add some details that make your hedgehog unique. Cut out the small bits from the hedgehog craft template: nose, ear, extra spines, mouth, eyes, and cheek. Trace the ear onto light brown cardboard and cut it out.

Step 6

Flip over the front hedgehog. Use Pritt Glue Stick to attach the ear right where the light and dark brown sections meet.

Step 7

Now it’s time for the face, the part where your hedgehog gets all its charm! Trace and cut:
  • Nose and mouth from black card
  • Cheek from pink card
  • Eyes: white circles and smaller black circles for the pupils
Attach them with the glue stick – white eye first, then the black pupil.
Tip:
Fancy a little extra flair? Trace the flower template onto yellow and white paper and pop it just above your hedgehog’s ear – a cute little detail to make your spiky friend even more charming!

Step 8

Let’s add a handle! Thread some wooden beads onto a long piece of string – about a metre is just right – and tie the ends.
Tip:
Tie small knots between the beads to keep them from sliding around.

Step 9

Turn your hedgehog over – on the side without the cute face – and draw two straight glue lines across its back. Carefully place the ends of the string onto the glue lines. Let it dry for 2–3 hours – or overnight if you’ve got the patience!

Step 10

Draw a neat gluey line all around the edge of your hedgehog craft – but don’t close the gap between the two ends of the string! That’s the opening for your little secret pouch. Stick the front side of the hedgehog (the one with the face) onto the back part of the hedgehog. Press gently but firmly.

Step 11

Almost finished! Cut some long, colourful triangles out of pastel card and glue them along the hedgehog’s back – pointy side out! These are its spines, and they can be as colourful as you like.

Step 12

Is your hedgehog spiky enough? Smiling brightly? Handle attached? Then hooray – you’re done! Now fill it with little treasures or secrets, hang it over your shoulder, and you’re all set for your next adventure.
