Popsicle Stick Crafts:
Step By Step 🎨

Step 1

Draw a rectangle measuring 9 cm x 16 cm on the white photo card. Use a ruler and pencil or our handy template (you'll find it at the end of these instructions). Then carefully cut out the shape.

Step 2

Glue nine popsicle stick vertically next to each other onto the cardboard. This works best with Pritt Multipurpose Glue. Now, it's time to make the roof for your homemade piece of popsicle stick art: Place five popsicle sticks horizontally on top of each other on the roof section of your template – but don't glue them down yet! Make sure that the sticks are as flush as possible.

Step 3

Now draw two diagonal lines with the pencil on the horizontal popsicle stick to create a pointed roof shape.
Tip:
Instead of drawing the lines freehand, you can alternatively use two additional popsicle sticks. Place them diagonally on the horizontal sticks to form a pointed roof. Then simply trace the intersecting lines along the slanted popsicle sticks.

Step 4

Cut the five stems with the scissors along the marked lines. Ask an adult to help you if necessary – the wood can splinter easily.

Step 5

Now stick the cut-to-size stems for the roof onto the photo cardboard.

Step 6

Cut two popsicle sticks to a length of approximately 8 cm with scissors; these will later form the roof slopes. You can measure the length with a ruler. Alternatively, simply place the popsicle sticks diagonally against your house, as they will later create the roof. Mark the appropriate cutting point with a pencil – approximately at the height of the vertical popsicle sticks – and then cut along the mark.

Step 7

Paint the front of the house and the roof with acrylic paints in bright colours such as light blue, yellow, or red. This will give it that typical beach house look. Allow the paint to dry thoroughly before continuing.

Step 8

Paint the two popsicle sticks for the roof slopes and the small wooden ring with acrylic paint as well: paint the roof slopes to match the cottage and the wooden ring red and white – this will turn it into a decorative lifebuoy for your homemade beach house made of popsicle sticks.

Step 9

Paint three short popsicle sticks (6.5 cm long) with acrylic paint. You can choose between classic brown or colourful. Allow the paint to dry, and then glue the sticks to the centre of the house with all-purpose glue to form a door.

Step 10

Stick the lifebuoy in the centre above the door of your beach hut and the prepared roof slopes on the sides of the roof.

Step 11

Finally, glue a small wooden bead onto the door as a door knob. Your colourful beach hut made from popsicle sticks is now complete!
