Making bees: step by step 🐝

Step 1

Let's get started – we'll make the body of your bee. First, create the basic shape for the fluffy flying insect: draw a large teardrop shape on a piece of cardboard and carefully cut it out.
Tip:
If you want to make several bees of the same size, a template will help. You can download it at the end of this article.

Step 2

Now it's time to start wrapping! First, take the yellow wool. Apply a line of glue to one side of your cardboard bee body and press the end of the thread firmly onto it. Pritt Multipurpose Glue works particularly well for this. Wrap the wool around the cardboard eight to ten times, keeping the strands close together. Finally, attach the second end of the thread to the back as well.

Step 3

Let’s move on to the black wool. Attach it in the same way as the yellow wool and wrap it around the cardboard as well. Repeat the process, alternating between yellow and black wool, until you achieve the typical striped bee look.

Step 4

Ready? Then it's high time to give your bee a face! Cut out the eyes, cheeks, mouth, and wings from photo cardboard: black for the eyes and mouth, pink for the cheeks and white for the wings. Templates for these parts of your bee can also be found at the end of the article. Glue all the parts together using Pritt Multipurpose Glue. Alternatively, you can use a Pritt Glue Stick.

Step 5

Now cut two pieces of chenille wire, each about 7 cm long – you can use these to easily make your bee's antennae. Twist the wire slightly at one end of each piece.

Step 6

Place your bee on the table with its back facing upwards. Put a drop of Pritt Multipurpose Glue on the head and belly where you want to attach the antennae and the skewer. Press all the parts firmly into place and leave your cute little bee to dry for a few minutes.

Step 7

Of course, your bee needs wings to fly. Attach these to the back with a dab of glue – and you're done!
