Tulip Craft: Step-by-Step Guide🌷

Step 1

Take the white tissue paper and fold it in half. Cut along the fold to create two equal rectangles – this will be the base for your window art.

Step 2

Paint all eight wooden sticks with acrylic paint. Bright colours or soft pastels – the choice is yours! Since you’ll be gluing the sticks together later, you only need to paint one side of each. Let the paint dry completely as per the instructions on the packaging before continuing with the Tulip Craft.

Step 3

Apply Pritt Glue Stick to the unpainted sides of the wooden sticks and attach them along the edges of your tissue paper. This creates a lovely frame.
Tip:
For an A5 format (half of A4), 20 cm sticks work well for the long edges and 15 cm for the short edges. Got shorter sticks? No worries! Just arrange them along the edges as best you can, and trim off any excess paper.

Step 4

For super neat and even tulips, download our Tulip Craft template at the end of this guide. Cut out the tulip petals, stems and leaves, trace them onto coloured card stock and cut them out – and your paper tulips are ready to use.

Did you know?

Want to use your own tulip designs for this Tulip Craft? Simply draw your flowers onto cardboard to create custom templates. Alternatively, you can skip templates altogether and paint your tulips freehand directly onto the colourful tissue paper.

Step 5

Now it’s time to add some colour! Apply glue to the back of each tulip part and stick them onto the tissue paper. The number of tulips you use depends on the size of your paper and how full you want your paper bouquet to look.

Step 6

Apply a small amount of glue around the wooden frame only (where the sticks are glued). Then place the second piece of tissue paper on top and press down firmly. Be careful: only glue the frame area – glue elsewhere may show through the tissue paper.

Step 7

Time for the last four sticks! Apply glue to their unpainted sides and carefully stick them onto the existing frame for extra stability. Let the glue dry briefly before continuing, so nothing shifts out of place.

Step 8

Now take your hand drill and carefully make a hole in the top left and top right corners of the frame. This prepares it for hanging.

Step 9

Cut a piece of thread about 40 cm long. Thread one end through the hole in the top right corner and tie it securely.
Tip:
Not sure about the right thread length? Thread one end of the spool through the hole and tie it. Hold the spool in place and see how it hangs. Once you’re happy with the length, cut the thread to size.

Step 10

Repeat on the left side. Now your tulip window art is ready to hang.
