Did you know that you can grow grass seeds in an eggshell and make it look like a funny man with green hair? This is a cool project where you will learn how to grow your own plants. But remember, growing plants takes patience! You will have to wait a few days for the seeds to sprout. Place your funny man on a windowsill with lots of sun and watch his green hair grow. After a week you will see that the grass grows out toward the window. Do you know why? Plants grow toward sunshine, since they use the sun to make the energy they need to grow. - Print out the attached documents
- Seeds pepper grass
- An empty egg with a hole in the top
- Cotton wool
- 1 paper roll
- A handy Pritt Stick
First we cut out all the funny man images from the printed-out crafting templates.
Glue the egg into the top of the paper roll, with the hole pointing up.
Choose a silly body to glue to the paper roll. When you have chosen one, you must use you handy glue stick to apply a generous amount of glue over the entire back surface. Then you glue the paper to the paper and egg roll, with the shoes on the side opposite to the egg.
Now we give our egghead some accessories. Choose your favourites from the remaining decorative pieces. You can use the picture for inspiration.
We now wet our cotton wool in water and squeeze it dry. It’s best to do this over a basin. We then put the cotton wool ball into the egg.
Now we place our seeds into the egg with the cotton wool. Just sprinkle a few seed into the egg. We used pepper grass seeds. Which seeds did you use?
Place you egghead in a warm place with sunlight. A kitchen windowsill is a great place. Check on your egghead every day. In three or four days you’ll notice a difference!
And that's it!
We hope you have lots of fun growing plants with your funny green people.
We would love to see pictures of your funny green haired man. You can ask your mum or dad to post pictures on our Facebook wall at “Prittworld”.
