Crafting Panel: Add title here

Materials:

  • two large food cans, empty and rinsed clean
  • craft paper
  • photo paper
  • parcel string
  • masking tape
  • felt
  • Pritt Original Stick
  • Pritt No More Scissors tape

Tools:

  • scissors
  • pencil
  • felt tip pens
  • screwdriver and hammer

Step 1

Check that there are no jagged or sharp bits on the open, bottom edges of the clean food cans. If there are, ask an adult to bash them inwards with the hammer and cover them with masking tape so that you don't hurt yourself.

Step 2

Cut out strips of craft paper in the right size to cover both cans. Secure the join and the bottom and top edges with a piece of adhesive tape.

Step 3

Print out the template twice. You can colour in the badge in Superman colours (red and yellow) or your own choice of colours. Cut the badges out and stick one in the middle of each can.

Step 4

Trace the wings onto photo paper and cut them out. Stick them to the outer sides of the cans. Leave everything to dry well.

Step 5

Ask an adult to make two holes in each can using a screwdriver and a hammer. The holes should be as level with each other as possible and should be made in the wall beneath the top, closed edge of the can.

Step 6

Cut off two equally long pieces of the parcel string. Thread a string into each can from the outside and tie it securely on the inside. Make sure that the knot is really secure so that it can't slide out when walking on the stilts.

Step 7

Stand on the stilts, tightly tie the strings around your feet, and you have already grown a lot and are ready to conquer the world as a Superhero.

Tips and Tricks:

It is really easy to cut out a piece of craft paper the right size for the can. Use a piece of string to help. Measure the circumference of the can with a piece of string. Then place the string on the edge of the craft paper and draw along its length. Measure the height of the can with string as well and draw it on the paper. Join the markings into a rectangle and cut it out. There you have the perfect sized strip of paper.
