Backstory

Space rockets where made by the Russians and by the United States to send people and satellites into space. Russia was the first country to send a person into space and the United States were the first to send a person to the moon. Many wonderful technologies have come from the space race as it was called. The International Space Station (ISS) is the largest man made satellite in space. Astronauts from all over the world use it to conduct experiments. The ISS was built using parts sent into space using American and Russian rockets. It is amazing what we can do when we work as a team.
Did you know that Pritt glue is the only glue, which has been tested in space on the ISS? This makes it the only glue-stick which is space proof.

Step 1

Collect all your required tools and materials.

Step 2

Cut out all the shapes from the printed out documents.

Step 3

Take image 1 from the paper cut outs and the toilet roll. Use your Pritt stick to apply a generous amount of glue to the glue strip area. Then use the toilet roll to roll the paper into a cylinder around the toilet roll. Make sure that the paper is stuck securely in place to create a cylinder around the toilet roll.

Step 4

Take image 2 and glue along the glue out line. Then fold the circle into a cone.

Step 5

Place a generous amount of glue around the top of the rocket cylinder. Then place the cone on top of the rocket cylinder firmly.  Twist the cone slightly to make sure there is strong bond and allow it to dry for 2 minutes.

Step 6

Glue the rocket fins into place.

Step 7

Glue the remaining images to your rocket as depicted.

Step 8

Remove the toilet roll from the rocket cylinder. Cut 5 - 10 mm around the top of the toilet roll. Then push the edges inwards so as to round the top of the toilet roll. This will make it easier to place the toilet roll into the base of the your rocket.

How to use your rocket:

Step 1

First place half of the toilet roll into the base of the rocket.

Step 2

Hold onto the toilet roll and place your mouth at the open end of the roll.

Step 3

Fill your lungs with as much air as possible. Aim your rocket in the direction you would like it to go.

Step 4

Then blow as hard and fast as possible into the base of the toilet roll. This will launch your rocket into the air.

And that is it!

We hope you have lots of fun with your Pritt rocket.

We would love to see pictures of your projects. You can ask your parents to post your pictures on our Facebook wall at “Pritt world”.

Tips & Tricks

A longer paper tube from a kitchen paper roll works best.
